Adoption of Children with Thalassemia

As part of our thalassemia campaign, supporters and groups come forward to stand with a child who needs regular blood transfusions — so that no transfusion is delayed for want of a donor.

Why these children need us

Thalassemia is an inherited blood disorder. Children living with it cannot make enough healthy red blood cells on their own.

Because of this, many of them depend on blood transfusions again and again, for years together. Every transfusion depends on someone donating blood in time.

For a family, the hardest part is not knowing whether a donor will be available when the next transfusion is due. That is the gap this initiative tries to close.

What “adoption” means here

A person, a family, a friends’ circle or a workplace team chooses to stand with one child — helping make sure donors are ready when that child’s transfusion is due, and staying in touch with the family through the year. Our team explains what this involves before anyone commits to it.

Speak to our team to know what a sponsorship involves today. No amounts or commitments are listed here until they are confirmed by the organization.
